Glossy paper is the most common paper for printing photos. It is very smooth to touch, and produces a sharp, vibrant image. If you want your images to be as sharp as possible then glossy paper is the right decision. Glossy paper is easily marked with fingerprints or dust, so these prints are best framed. Glossy paper is also very reflective and shiny, which can be an issue when viewing the image in a sunny area.

Matte Prints Matte prints are perfect for black and white images, formal shots, and large sized pictures, such as 5×7 or 8×10. Many large family portraits are printed on matte paper because of their attention to detail.
